The Chinese see the human person as a system of patterns of moving Qi. The background to Qigong is the ancient philosophical and medical concept of Qi as the energy and information of life. It is the smooth flow and balanced interaction of energies that comprise a person’s health. Qigong provides a simple way to integrate mind, breath and body in a series of ordinary, slow, quiet still and moving exercises that can help to develop one’s awareness and sensitivity to the flow of Qi and open the innate potential of the whole person. When you practice Qigong on a regular basis you are realising that connection between your body, yourself and the universe. It is this physical experience that qigong is all about. “Qigong is not science. It has to do with wisdom. The wisdom of how to be in the world”. (quote by Árpád Romándy from a talk given at the Ritten Seminar – Sept 2015).
Starting to do Qigong together as part of a small group is one of the easiest ways of learning what Qigong is all about and experiencing it for yourself.
